Editing Footage - 07/12/11

Today we have uploaded the footage of the studio clips we filmed on Wednesday. We have synced all the clips into the original track so that it looks like they are recording the song and not just miming it. It will help to create the impressions that it is a real music video to the audience. When uploading the footage to final cut, we noticed that the colour of the background in the different clips are very different. Some clips had a really bright and warm feeling whilst others were more bland and white. We realised that we would have to add some effects so that we could get all the footage looking the same so it is constantly the same and not really different in sections.

This is a screen grab of the two different pieces of footage that have very different coloured backgrounds. This is where we will need to add effects to correct the colours. We tried using different effects like colour correction, but this was very hard to get the colours the same.

This is an effect we used called colour balance. We tried to remove the blue and lower the green and red. We got a colour that was nearer to the brighter one (on the right) but the colours are still different. We still have to work out how to get the footage exactly the same so that they look the consistent throughout.

During the editing process we will have to continue to play around with the effects and see if we can get all the footage looking like the same colour. We are also considering putting all the footage in black and white so that all the clips are the same and consistent.
